How to best post pictures
« on: September 04, 2013, 10:45:53 AM »
So, this forum being not for profit, no sponsorship, no money at all runs on free software.  And whilst it is pretty robust it does have some limitations.  Image uploading, which is encouraged, is a little bit clunky.

To skirt around this issue it is strongly recommended you use a third party photo program like Photobucket, Flickr, Picasa, 500px etc.

Photobucket has a great uploader direct from mobile phones, it also displays the direct link in the app, which can be pasted into this forum.

Simply click the Mona Lisa button when drafting a new message, this inserts the img tag into your message, then paste the direct link into the middle of that img tag.

A few users request that thumbnails be posted, photobucket let's you do this from your browser but not yet from the mobile app.  You just have to turn on 'show thumbnail link' in your photobucket account settings.

The advantage of using a third party photo platform is that you can post your image to multiple forums, you manage the images and should anything happen to this forum, your images are not lost.
